10 Moments, 10 Teams, 10 Players, 1 Pirate!

When I look at the Garden30 I only see Seton Hall mentioned twice.  Sad but true.  So for a couple years we might have been a drinking school with a basketball problem, but what other Big East school has such loyalty to their fans.  After watching a handful Big East Moments on YouTube, this is my absolute favorite x10  :)

A school that truly bleeds blue.

Top Ten Big East Basketball Teams of All Time aka my favorite SHU b-ball years.

  • Seton Hall 1908-1909 – Earliest Picture I could find and the year I graduated (kindof, off by a few!)
  • Seton Hall 1953 – Won the National Invitation Tournament
  • Seton Hall 1993 – Big East Regular Season and Big East Tournament Championships
  • Seton Hall 1989- NCAA Final Fours
  • Seton Hall 2012- Follow the hashtags: #shbb #hallsohard #thatSHUcray #volvobigeastfan #volvos60 & you’ll understand

For the Top Ten Big East Basketball Player, please reference my Dreamiest Big East Team.  Yea, there might only be eight, but I do marketing not math.

Cheering on the Pirates

My all-time favorite place to watch a Seton Hall Basketball Game was the first row seats at Prudential Center Volvo hooked me up with this past weekend.

Being that can’t happen every game,  If I can’t watch the Pirates game at Prudential Center I enjoy watching the game with friends at Bunny’s Sports Bar in South Orange. A friend posted this weekend, “The place may have changed but the people are still the same.”

During college the girls and I also liked to throw back a couple Keystone Lights and watch the Pirates on our NOT so flat screen in our apartment, GT5.

Luckily now, not only have we graduated Seton Hall but we’ve also graduated to Vodka clubs and the Ice Bar.

If I can’t be in North Jersey watching the Pirates shoot hoops I enjoy watching the game in the home theater in the basement.

A Pirate’s VolvoS60

Here is a glimpse of the ultimate Seton Hall Pirate VolvoS60 style. Any true pirates fan would choose to rock a royal blue car.

Each time a pirates fan steps into their Volvo they would rest their feet on these bad boys.

The license plate would have nothing less than this sparkly piece.

Tastefully placed on the outside a few SHU Pride Decals.

My Sparkly VolvoS60

To the theme song,12 Days of Christmas:

On the first day of our road trip,
my true love gave to me
a sparkly VolvoS60!

On the second day of our road trip,
my true love said to me
let’s head to Georgetown in DC,
In our sparkly VolvoS60.

On the third day of our road trip,
my true love and me
spent the day at The National Museum of American History
before leaving DC,
In our sparkly VolvoS60.

On the fourth day of our road trip,
my true love and me
began the Victory March to Fighting Irish City,
I have to admit we will miss DC,
and it’s getting quite chilly,
but at least we have heated seats in our VolvoS60.

On the fifth day of our road trip,
my true love said to me
“I’m getting thirsty”
There is no better place then Corby’s
which is known for
Just good old fashioned drinking.

On the sixth day of our road trip,
my true love and me
Visited the Golden Dome
Norte Dame’s centerpiece
and the third building to call
Norte Dame’s campus home
two decades ago
and it matches this sparkly VolvoS60.

On the seventh day of our road trip,
my true love said to me
time to get going,
our last venture awaits us,
in New Jersey,
Seton Hall’s rival,
Rutgers U,
we will cruise to,
In the VolvoS60.

On the eighth day of our road trip,
my true love entertained me,
with his singing,
and man was I laughing,
when he was belting,
Mariah Carey’s,
Christmas CD,
Did you know?
all he wants for Christmas is me?!
And of course a manly VolvoS60.

On the ninth day of our road trip,
Pirates VS. Knights tickets my true love got me,
Cheerleaders are dancing,
Crowds a rumbling,
and Rutgers struggling,
the buzzer is sounding
Pirates for the victory.
No I’m not surprised but
before we go out to celebrate
let’s take a drive down College Ave.
In my sparkly VolvoS60.

As I end my road trip,
I ask that you remember to vote for me!
Biggest Fan of the Big East,
I can’t wait for my trip back to SHU
in that sparkly VolvoS60.

Trip down Memory Lane aka South Orange Avenue

This week Volvo asked us to plan out the places we wish to visit when they send me back to Seton Hall in a VolvoS60 for Volvo’s Biggest Fan of the Big East Contest.  After cruising up the Garden State Parkway my first stop will be Happy Hour!

Volvo S60A favorite pastime dollar beers and free pizza at Bunny’s from 4-5pm, best way to end the day (or start night class).  If we are lucky enough Bunny herself might even be on the premises.

Of course one hour of happiness is never enough so my guest and I will then visit another favorite Seton Hall Hot Spot, Cryans.  Walking into Cryans you never know what you will get could be karaoke, a country singer or a rocking DJ, no matter what the entertainment Cryans always guarantees a good time.

After a couple cocktails there is nothing better than a slice of El Grecos Pizza.  Words cannot describe the deliciousness that is El Grecos.

My guest and I will then cruise down South Orange Avenue in the VolvoS60 reminiscing about all of the great times we had walking around town.   My favorite stop will be at Grove Terrace Apartments.  My girlfriends and I lived there for the last two years of college.  We have countless memories from our terrace watching the parade, freshman exploring the town for the first time and many secrets that will never leave the GT5 Terrace.

Next stop before the game my guest and I will zoom over to the Immaculate Conception Chapel.  By far the most beautiful place on campus.  Another great part of being a Seton Hall Alumni is the opportunity to be married in the Chapel.  Maybe one day I’ll wed one of the dreamy Big East Husbands.

Last but definitely not least my guest and I will enjoy a ride in the VolvoS60 to Prudential Center in Newark.  At 8 pm we will join hundreds of other fans to cheer on the Pirates for a victory over Louisville.
